The SAE 1025™ FMEA Standard was released on January 1, 2026. The standard states “This standard is intended to be used as a replacement for the MIL-STD-1629a. Despite being cancelled in 1998, MIL-STD-1629a is still a key reference in the aerospace and Department of War (DOW) sectors. It has steadfastly guided engineering practices for over 4 decades. It has not been revised in 40 years”.

Despite its widespread use after cancellation, MIL-STD-1629a has significant flaws. Unfortunately, the SAE 1025™ FMEA standard inherited some of the flaws of MIL-STD-1629a and introduces others. This webinar is the first of a two-webinar series which examines both the strengths and weaknesses of the SAE 1025™ FMEA Standard. It is a “must-view” for anyone considering adopting the standard.
