Abstract: AI Investigative Committee
This webinar shares the current findings and strategic direction of the AI Investigative Committee established to assess the development, deployment, and impact of artificial intelligence adoption as contrasted with the historical practices of a reliability professional. The committee is examining historical and potential future consequences. Consequentially, recommendations that emphasize strengthening usage frameworks, enhancing decision governance, implementing continuous oversight mechanisms, and ensuring responsible AI usage aligned with legal and ethical guidelines, among others, are being considered. The findings aim to support legal, safe, fair, and accountable integration of AI practices within the reliability discipline.
Abstract: Safety Investigative Committee
This initiative outlines the Safety Investigative Committee’s approach to assessing the effectiveness of current safety practices while accounting for increasing system complexity that may obscure risks and challenge safety practitioner efficacy. The committee in it’s evaluation has established a strategic approach to assess how well existing protocols align with actual operational outcomes, with particular attention to how interdependencies, cognitive load, and system opacity can confound hazard recognition and response. Emphasis is placed on identifying gaps, improving clarity in procedures, and strengthening adaptive oversight methods to ensure safety practices remain effective, transparent, and resilient in complex environments.
