Abstract:
Some engineering analysis problems involve the use of high-fidelity physics-based computational models. This poses two challenges: 1) certain phenomena may be too complicated to model through physics-based models or through simple empirical regression models; 2) calibrating physics-based computational models to match test data can become intractable if the number of model parameters is significantly large. In this webinar we will discuss how Machine Learning based Surrogate Models and Response Surface Optimization can help address these challenges. We will briefly cover examples in thermal engineering and power plant performance modeling.
