Topic: Quality Management Review — Benchmarking Quantitatively!
The cost of quality is an essential theme for any corporation. Typically, when the cost of quality is pictured, it is split into “cost of quality” and “cost of non-quality,” or similarly, “cost of control” and “cost of failure of control.” At the next level of detail, the costs of prevention and appraisal appear on one side and the costs of internal failure and external failure on the other side, as shown below.
How to interpret and implement these buckets at the tactical level is often left to personal imagination.
This presentation will discuss an integrated approach for implementing and interpreting qualitative and quantitative metrics in the GMP and non-GMP sides of the business.
Tobias Kuners of Koenders Bio.
Tobias Kuners of Koenders is a managing consultant at Tob Management, a Netherlands-based consulting firm providing business and technical expertise to the pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, and FSMP (food for special medical purpose) industries. He has worked at Biogen, Ipsen, Patheon, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Catalent, WuXi Biologics, Kite Pharma, Danone, and Cryoport Systems among other companies, gaining hands-on experience in engineering services, equipment qualification, maintenance, supply chain, warehousing, and distribution. He has led the design, engineering, and construction of multiple facilities to meet cGMP requirements. He performs QMS Maturation, audits, identifies gaps, and develops remediation plans, working within organizations to assist with deviation investigations and CAPA implementation and to develop scientific, risk-based solutions. ASQ1106 Section Position Elections
We are open for nominations for the following positions. You can nominate someone or self-nominate. If you nominate someone, be sure to check with them to make sure they are willing to serve in that position if elected.
Eligible individuals must be Regular Members of the Society and have a membership in the section.
Below is a brief description of each position that is open for nominations. Each of these positions is for a one-year term.
· Chair: The Chair provides leadership and oversight to the member unit, prepares meeting agendas, and is the presiding officer.
· Secretary: The Secretary documents member unit business and maintain the records. This position serves as the official correspondent of the member unit.
· Treasurer: The Treasurer oversees funds, maintains accurate financial records, and reports on financial condition as directed by the Society bylaws and policies and procedures.
If you want to nominate yourself or someone else, please contact Arved Harding, aharding@eastman.com. Please send Arved the persons name and ASQ member number and contact information by 10/18/24. If no nominations are received for a position, the nominating committee of the ASQ1106 board will select a nominee. If only one person is brought up for a position, there will be no member election, but a board vote will be taken.

ASQ Certification Exam Scholarship (2024)
Are you considering taking an ASQ Certification Exam? Well now's the time to make the commitment. ASQ Section 1106 has set aside money available for certification exam scholarships. After taking an ASQ certification exam ASQ Section 1106 will pay the ASQ member 50% of the exam cost.
Detail
Applicant must be a primary member of ASQ Section 1106.
- This scholarship is not available to members whose company pays for their exam fee.
- This is a onetime offer per member, i.e. each member can only request this scholarship one time.
- Valid for exams taken in 2022 and 2023. The ability and need to offer this scholarship to our membership will be evaluated each section year.
- This scholarship EXCLUDES the Master Black Belt Certification Exam.
- The scholarship is available to members that take a certification exam and is not contingent on passing.
- Money is limited, so first come first serve. Your exam registration date will serve as a date of intent and puts you in line to receive a scholarship after you take the exam.
- To be eligible for the scholarship, register with ASQ for an exam before the exam deadline.
- After you take the exam, send a filled out ASQ Certification Exam Scholarship Form to the Scholarship Chair requesting the scholarship award. A form will be available in the Resources area of the Northeast TN Section myASQ site. Please attach a copy of the email from ASQ Headquarters or the testing organization confirming you took the exam. The Scholarship Chair will confirm the information and money is still available and will authorize the Treasurer to send you a check.
