Embark on a comprehensive exploration of the challenges faced by a new Quality Manager as they strive to address training and procedural deficiencies, particularly the protracted delays in fitness-for-use determinations made by laboratory analysts exhibiting borderline visual impairments. A thorough investigation reveals several underlying issues. The Quality Manager subsequently conducts a gap analysis to ascertain the extent of necessary modifications to empower analysts to make timely decisions regarding borderline quality.
The gap analysis identifies several items that require phased tasks, which are consistent with a Lean project to address the issues. This presentation outlines the efforts undertaken in each of the five phases and reviews the lessons learned throughout the process, ultimately achieving substantial results. The presentation emphasizes the significant impact of training, procedures, culture, and management on shaping analysts’ performance and decision-making.
