Our February13 meeting will be held as a Virtual Meeting with both a program and tutorial.

Our featured speaker is Zac Jarrard.  Zac is the President of Jarrard Consulting, LLC. The company is dedicated to bringing out the best in people through team building activities, project management training, and workshops to improve intergenerational communication at work. Zac holds a Master of Science in Information Systems and Business Analytics, MPA and MBA from Park University. His research interests include gamification, project management, and working across different generations. Outside of his company, Zac is heavily involved in the community. He is a proud ASQ senior member who serves as the Chair of the Kansas City Section. Zac is an Eagle Scout who aspires to make the world a better place for everyone.

The program topic for the evening is "The Quality Manager As A Facilitator"

Quality managers often work as facilitators to guide a team throughout a project or
during important meetings. A key part of this includes facilitating meetings and
bringing key stakeholders together to make important decisions. The use of
facilitation and steering committees are vital to making progress on large initiatives.
This presentation will 1) provide an overview of facilitation and steering committees
2) examine the role facilitation and steering committees can play in projects or
meetings 3) share lessons learned from successfully facilitating meetings and
steering committees.

After the program, the tutorial topic is "ASQ Baltimore Member Participation as Volunteer Judges at Morgan State University Science-Mathematics -Engineering Fair”  and will be presented by the ASQ Baltimore Section 0502 Science Fair Committee.

ASQ Baltimore Section 0502 has a long history of participation in the Baltimore Science Fair. This is an in-person event 9am until noon Saturday March 16, 2024 at Morgan State University, Baltimore, MD. Resuming after Covid, with a new sponsor and location, this event serves as a qualifying event for Baltimore area middle school and high school students.
Winners progress to regional and national events. The Morgan State University Science-Mathematics-Engineering Fair is sponsored by the Center for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Education. Middle and High school students in the greater Baltimore area participate by submitting projects in the following categories:  Biological Science, Earth and Environmental Science, Mathematics and Computer Science, Physical Science and Team Projects. The volunteer judges participate in an orientation and are provided with judging criteria based on common core state standards, engineering design process, scientific research/method and educational interactive demonstrations.
