Kristy Kistner Biographical Summary

Kristy Kistner is the director of Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU)’s Resource Center for Performance Excellence (RCPE). RCPE provides value to internal and external customers through assessing performance; implementing consistent work methodologies, tools, and

frameworks; advancing project execution; and improving processes.

Kristy directs and coordinates the quality management system and quality assurance across ORAU, including responsibility for maintenance of ORAU’s ISO 9001 registration. Previously, she served as the project manager for the Office of Quality, managing quality management

system initiatives, conducting quality assessments, leading assessment teams, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements relative to quality. Past positions have included strengthening ORAU’s security program and infrastructure, assisting DOE’s Office of National Technical Nuclear Forensics in concept of operations development, and providing national policy support to the Department of Homeland Security.

Kristy is a member of US TAG to ISO/TC 176, the development team responsible for the ISO 9000 series of standards. She recently served on working group to update ASQ Z1 TR1 Guidelines or Performing a Self-Assessment of a Quality Management System and as one of

three U.S. experts on the ISO/TC 176/SC 2/Ad Hoc Group 4 that considered development of a requirements standard based on ISO 9004.

 Kristy holds a Master of Arts in international affairs from George Washington University, and a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Colorado State University. Her certifications include Certified Quality Auditor (American Society for Quality) and Project

Management Professional (Project Management Institute), and she has earned the Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) award – the highest level of educational achievement in Toastmasters.
