Hitting the I-Spot: Innovation Through The Lens of Ikigai

When:  Dec 2, 2022
Associated with  Innovation Division
Ikigai is a Japanese Concept meaning “a reason for being”. This is derived by posing the questions of what a person loves, what the world needs, what the person is good at, and what they can be paid for. Through these intersections, the passion, mission, vocational, and professional aspects can be determined. Using a similar lens, Innovation can be refined as the intersection of similar drivers (i.e. User Satisfaction and Delight, Awareness and Knowledge, Transactional Benefits, and Technological Advancement). By elaborating on the intersections of these drivers, a pathway toward an integrated series of innovations can be developed that addresses and improves upon the status quo from multiple perspectives. This will be demonstrated with examples from product development and service provision.
