Chair’s Message – September 2024
Greetings valued ASQ Phoenix Section Members –
Fall will be upon us this month, but it doesn’t quite feel like it in the valley just yet, does it? With so many records broken this summer due to the heat, it’s difficult to believe that cooler days are on the way. I am hoping that we have already experienced our last day above 110 degrees and that we’ll soon realize a downward trend in temperatures. Arizona is known for many things, but I hear the intense heat mentioned most often in conversations!
The onset of fall is also a busy time for ASQ sections. It is during this time of year that your section leadership is busy planning for the year ahead. We’ve been hard at work brainstorming goals that provide member benefit, grow the section, and align with ASQ’s mission and vision. It’s also the time of year when a call for nominations of elected positions is made, and new elected leadership team members are voted into office for the upcoming term.
There are many perks to serving on the board of the Phoenix Section. Serving provides you with an opportunity to collaborate with a great group of people, leave your mark on the section by making decisions that will move it forward in a positive direction, and earn recertification units for your time and dedication. Such a great deal!
I encourage you to nominate yourself for one of the elected positions. We will be holding elections for a Section Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary in October and I would love to add your name to the ballot. While these positions are required to keep the section running, we also have several other opportunities for involvement on the board if none of these speak to you. Some of our appointed positions include Membership Chair, Voice of the Customer Chair, Programs Chair, and Social Media Chair. If you have questions about these positions or any others, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at hwerner@memberleader.asq.org. We will also be offering a networking session following our speaker during September’s monthly program meeting on the 12th, which will focus on the responsibilities and time commitments of these positions. Should you decide to volunteer for any of the roles following the meeting, please complete your personal nomination by the end of September by sending an email to the address above indicating your interest.
Finally, in our efforts to provide you with activities that provide the most member benefit for you, I’d like to remind you that you are encouraged to reach out at any time with suggestions for improvement, kudos for things that we are doing well and you would like us to continue doing, or anything else you think would benefit the section positively. We are here for you and want to be sure that we are providing the best experience possible!
Until we meet again, I wish you health, happiness, and connectedness.
Cheers!
Hilary Werner
