• Topic: The State of Manufacturing in Colorado

  • Over two years after the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and its effects on the Colorado economy,

  • it is clear that "Colorado’s economy has rebounded from the job recovery and growth. In May 2022, Colorado was one of 14 states whose economic recovery had surged above pre-recession levels."[1]

  • However, manufacturers in Colorado and across the United States continue to face three significant challenges:

    • Workforce - a significant workforce gap and not enough able-bodied humans to fill the gap.

    • Supply Chain - vulnerabilities that require resources to identify, analyze, and mitigate; and

    • Technology - identifying, adopting, and deploying technologies that mitigate workforce and supply chain challenges and improve operations..

  • Jennifer Hagan-Dier is the Vice President and COO for Manufacturer’s Edge, the NIST MEP Center for the state of Colorado.  
  • In this role, Hagan-Dier leads strategic initiatives for Manufacturer’s Edge and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the MEP Center.  
  • Hagan-Dier leads Partnerships and Programs including the Supply Chain Operations and Optimization Program (SCOOP) and The Colorado Manufacturing Network.  
  • Hagan-Dier works with the leadership team to support the organization at the local, state, and federal levels including managing partnerships, NIST MEP reporting and relations with Manufacturing USA Institutes.
  • Hagan-Dier is a key advisor on business and financial decisions.
