Keynote Speaker Bio
Dr. Carlos Ayala is a Senior Strategist at Alamo Colleges District Support Operations (DSO) and a member of the Strategic Planning and Performance Excellence department where he coaches DSO leaders and oversees strategic planning, action planning, performance management, and process improvement activities in support of DSO’s 47 operational units. He has held this position since 2005.
Prior to this position, Dr. Ayala served for three years under Dr. Mike Flores, current Chancellor of Alamo Colleges District, in the department of Institutional Research and Effectiveness at Palo Alto College.
Since 2003, Carlos has been an adjunct professor in the School of Business and the MBA program at the University of the Incarnate Word.
His performance excellence expertise has been shaped by his service as a Baldrige examiner at the state and national levels for the past 12 years. He was a member of the Quality Texas Foundation’s board of examiners from 2008 to 2010 and has served as an examiner in the national Baldrige Performance Excellence Program for the last 9 years as a senior examiner, master examiner, and team leader, and participated in 5 Baldrige team site visits.
Dr. Ayala’s degrees include:
Bachelor of Science degree from San Marcos University in Lima, Peru,
Master of Science degree from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado
Master of Business Administration from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and
Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois.
