"49 Years in Quality"
Bill Oakes retired in 2023 after 16 years at Qualcomm, in Supplier Quality, Product Quality and Quality Systems. His 49-year career in Quality in San Diego was at several companies such as Air Products, Alcoa, Cipher Data, and NCR. Bill has a BS in Engineering and an MS in Systems Management. He is the current Chair of the San Diego Section of ASQ and has previously served as Palomar section Chair and has held other ASQ leadership positions. He holds 5 certifications from ASQ. In retirement, Bill enjoys golf, gardening, and travel with his wife of 40 years.
Bill will be speaking about his range of experiences in the Quality Assurance field and will share insights about what works and doesn't work, along with a few anecdotes about dealing with management. There will be several amusing and/or informative topics, including the age-old question "What is quality anyway?"
