Brandon oversees an annual operating budget of more than $200M, a capital budget of over $400M, and a workforce of over 700 dedicated public works employees, many represented by local unions. The Department is tasked with building and maintaining Indianapolis' public infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and flood protection levees, providing critical services for residents including trash collection and snow removal, and maintaining the city's fleet of vehicles. 
 
Brandon is a dedicated public servant with experience serving at the federal, state, and local levels of government. Before being installed as DPW's Director on December 19, 2022, Brandon served as the CFO and Policy Director for the Indianapolis City-County Council and as the Deputy State Director for former United States Senator Joe Donnelly. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from IUPUI and is a lifelong resident of Indianapolis where he lives with his wife, their son, and their two dogs.
