About Our Speaker:
Topher Gehrmann holds a Masters Degree in Biomedical Engineering where he first
learned to incorporate programming solutions to tackle large, messy datasets at the bench.
He then spent the next five years working in Quality and Manufacturing for medical
device companies exploring worksheet-based and custom scripts to tackle data analyses
used for design, risk, safety, and production. Currently, Topher is a Data Engineer
programming fast and reliable cloud-based data science solutions for Healthcare and
Manufacturing companies across the country.
Meeting Abstract:
Quality Engineering is quickly outgrowing the preconceived notions of just
documentation and excel sheets. The QE of today needs to be skilled in data analysis to
ensure best-in-class Quality which effectively uses the growing pile of data available for
product development and post-development. We will discuss the use of large data and the
concerns about data quality, data governance, and data use cases that push the limits of
worksheet-based software like Excel. We will discuss the usefulness of scripting languages
like Python and SQL to bridge the gaps between messy, large data and useful
interpretations. Some examples discussed will include use cases for processing post-
market data using natural language processing or using machine learning vision tools to
provide high speed quality checks in production. We will also walk through custom
scripted solution samples to help kickstart your journey in programming!
