As a result of attending this workshop participants will be able to:
- Identify and define basic quality tools that can be used to identify and confirm a root cause (or causes) have been identified, and
- Describe where and how each of the tools can be used as part of a root cause analysis.
The workshop will utilize lecture, discussion and examples to illustrate the use of each tool. Tools covered in the workshop include: Run Chart, Control Chart, Check Sheet, Pareto Chart, Is / Is Not, Problem Definition, Cause and Effect Diagram, and 5 Whys.

Instructor Bio: Steve Czarniak works as a Project Manager with Boston Scientific with overall responsibility for leading their Project Management Center of Excellence. Steve has extensive experience managing their internal Process Improvement and Problem Solving Methodologies to drive value into the organization. Steve consults and coaches individuals and teams for project management, process improvement and problem solving throughout operations, development and business functions. Steve was instrumental in the development and deployment of Boston Scientific’s Value Improvement Process initiative and their Process Improvement and Problem Solving Training programs. Steve has taught hundreds of engineers, technicians and managers Problem Solving and Process Improvement methodologies and tools. Steve has an MS degree in Statistics from University of Wisconsin-Madison and is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt.
