DESCRIPTION

In 2014, the ACTC assumed the delivery of Driver License services from the State of Florida. We knew it would fundamentally change our organization and we needed to improve our capacity and processes to be successful. Therefore, we began our transformational change to achieve Organizational Excellence which has brought about vast operational improvements and transitioned our culture from mediocre to exceptional. Using the Florida Sterling Criteria and benchmarking other organizations who have also used the framework to achieve Organizational Excellence, was key to positive growth in every aspect of our operations. The Sterling Criteria has transformed us into a high-performing team at every level of the organization. Our customers recognize this success, and our workforce is fully engaged knowing they are part of the bigger picture. We fully embrace the accomplishments we have achieved and celebrate each step of our seven-year Sterling journey. Reversing the stereotype of DMV-related offices, ACTC has achieved a remarkable 98% customer satisfaction and 91% workforce satisfaction. Who would imagine a DMV office could achieve such success? We welcome you to attend and learn how the Tax Collector’s office made the transformation.

SPEAKER BIOS

Hon. John Power serves as the Constitutional Tax Collector for Alachua County Florida, (Gainesville area). His office is the proud recipient of the 2022 Governor’s Sterling Award. Providing Tax and DMV-related services, they serve over ½ million customers annually, collect and distribute over $460 million, all while achieving a remarkable 98% customer service satisfaction rating. Results such as these are rarely seen in Tax or DMV-related offices. Mr. Power credits Sterling’s innovative approach to “Organizational Excellence” as the key to their success.

Alisha Curtis serves as the Director of Strategic Operations for the Tax Collector’s office. With knowledge of all operational aspects of the TC office, and a keen understanding of the Sterling Model for Performance Excellence, Mrs. Curtis leads the Senior Management team, and the staff, through the entire Sterling Management process. Her knowledge, charisma, and ability to teach and inspire others have proven paramount in the Tax Collector’s office achieving the 2022 Governor’s Sterling Award.
