Eric Zink started Think Zink Consulting, LLC in 2009 bringing with him a diverse background in service, manufacturing and supply chain. His roles in private equity and public-owned companies in the areas of Strategy Planning, Quality, Lean, Six Sigma, Industrial Engineering, Business Excellence, Laboratory, Operations and Logistics provide an end-to-end solutions model for his clients.
Prior to starting Think Zink Consulting, LLC, Mr. Zink worked for Americold as their Vice President of Continuous Improvement globally responsible for Quality, Lean, Six Sigma and Industrial Engineering. In this role, he led the development of a set of operating metrics used to manage the business and improve operations in cost, productivity and space utilization for their network of 186 cold storage food supply chain warehouses. He led functional responsibility for the due diligence of the China Merchants acquisition and was responsible for the integration of operational excellence methods and ISO 9000 certification for its operations. He also had responsibility for the roll-out of the labor management system which utilized engineered labor standards to calculate and report on productivity. This allowed the organization improved productivity transparency affording a 5% net productivity improvement in 8 of the major warehouses implemented during his tenure. Mr. Zink was responsible for combining the various functions he lead into one synchronous and synergistic team whereby engineered standards developed into standardized and documented processes which led to certified quality management systems producing viable lean and six sigma opportunities through its Toyota Kata methods to afford further savings and improvements by the lean and black belt Kaizen teams.
Prior to Americold, Mr. Zink was a Master Black Belt supporting Kraft Foods in 15 of their North American manufacturing facilities for their Cheese & Dairy, Beverage, and Baked Goods divisions. In this role, he was responsible for identifying over $50M in cost savings opportunities and was champion through mentorship and coaching over 15 black belt candidates in these locations on over $5M realized in its first year personally certifying 8 belts during his tenure.
