Title: Data: Ten Questions Every Auditor Should Ask

Summary: The world relies on data and its analyses to make good decisions. ISO Standards have also followed suit by including clauses on the topic. What should auditors look for? That is the million-dollar question. Why? Let us look at Section 8.4 Data Analysis from ISO 13485. The first paragraph requires documented procedures to determine, collect and analyze appropriate data…. and determination of appropriate methods, including statistical techniques and the extent of their use. How does one determine if the data, its analyses, and statistical techniques are appropriate? This means the auditor should know something about data, its collection, integrity, analysis, and reporting to ask meaningful questions. This session addresses just that.
Speaker’s Bio (Rai Chowdhary): Rai is the CEO of The KPI System (Key Performance Improvement). His company provides business services for aerospace, life sciences (medical device, pharmaceutical, biotech), food, automotive, IT, mining, energy, and several other industries. His ASQ certifications include CQA, CQE, CQM/OE, and SSBB. He holds qualification-based certifications from Exemplar Global as a Medical Device Lead Auditor for Medical Device Management Systems, Lead Auditor for Information Security Management Systems, and Lead Auditor for Quality Management Systems. He has successfully completed the certified courses provided by Probitas Authentication for authentication as an Aerospace Auditor, Aerospace Experienced Auditor, and ISO 9001 auditor. In addition, he is a certified Scrum Master through the Scrum Alliance. He has over 35 years of experience spanning various roles – starting his life as an operator and rising to executive ranks. Along the way he earned his Diploma in Mechanical Eng., B. E. Production Eng., M. S. Materials Science, and studied Business Management as well. Rai has authored several books and is now working on the next ones that cover Essential Skills for Auditors and Auditees.
