The pandemic of 2020 has been a major world event. It has affected everyone, including students pursuing STEM careers. This session highlights the impacts of the pandemic of 2020 through the lens of the ASQ Education Division STEM Network and issues a call to action to enhance the STEM Ecosystem.

About the Presenter:

Dr. Terri T. Showers has over 20 years of experience in education, with a focus on STEM education.
Earlier in her career, she was instrumental in beginning a ground-breaking female mentoring program to expose, educate, and direct young girls into STEM careers.
Dr. Showers’ Doctorate was in Educational Leadership with an emphasis on STEM education.

About the Presenter:

Jill Brooks is the Lead of Corporate Global Customs Risk Management at Raytheon Technologies, working in Plano, Texas. Jill is responsible for Customs policies, Risk Reporting, Assessment Requirements, Customs Government Correspondence, and Learning and Certification.

Jill began her career in telecom developing and testing software. She has been with Raytheon for almost 20 years, starting with Software Quality or Mission Assurance and she is an ASQ Certified Software Quality Engineer. Jill has held multiple leadership roles in Mission Assurance, Software Quality and Configuration Management, Software Process, and Six Sigma. While completing her Six Sigma Expert Certification, Jill worked with numerous functions including Communications, Legal, Supply Chain, Operations, and of course, Engineering. Jill worked as a Six Sigma Expert for Quality / Mission Assurance, was a Six Sigma Performance lead, and the Six Sigma Talent and Development Lead.
