To create awareness amongst students on the impact that quality could have on their careers, the ASQ Montreal Section 401 set up a table manned by Amine Djeffal and Nidia Noel. It offered a paper description of all ASQ certifications and a small PowerPoint presentation describing the section history and activities running in a loop. The table was busy all evening with visits from people who were interested in learning what the ASQ was and what it had to offer.

Two surprising things: The number of visits from doctoral level students in pharmacology and related branches of study, and their generally vague understanding of how to define quality broadly across disciplines beyond their own and how to achieve it. In most cases the ASQ and its quality tools and quality certifications were completely unknown to the visitors. Awareness of things like Six Sigma yellow, green or black belts was very low. Needless to say we were active all night long explaining this.

It was very enjoyable for me. I was away from the table when Nidia was at that the table. Amine manned the table pretty much all night and I can say he is a natural salesman with no fear of engaging visitors and promoting the merits of the ASQ.

Good job everybody!
