PHILADELPHIA ASQ MEMBER HIGHLIGHT - MELISSA DUONG
Melissa T. Duong, PA(ASCP)CM is a Pathologists' Assistant in the Philly area dedicated to improving healthcare quality.
A graduate of Drexel University with a BS in Biological Sciences, Minor in Philosophy, and MS as a Pathologists' Assistant, she also completed a healthcare business certificate from Wharton School of Business and ASQ Certified Six Sigma Green Belt.
She started at Penn Medicine Princeton and HNL Lab Medicine, where she also served as Process Excellence Lead, and returned to Penn Medicine as Associate Director of Anatomic Pathology at Chester County. There, she applies her growth mindset and creativity to nurture an open environment for quality initiatives, change, and employee engagement. She co-authored several peer-reviewed papers and serves as Chair of the Administration Committee for AAPA.
In her new role as 2025 Chair-Elect of the Philadelphia Section of ASQ, Melissa looks forward to further integrating lean six sigma with healthcare, advocating for quality assurance, collaborating with everyone, and continuing the impactful work of her predecessors.
