ASQ Phoenix Message from the Chair June 2026
Hello ASQ Phoenix Community,
As we move further into 2026, I continue to be encouraged by the strength of our Phoenix quality community and the level of engagement we are seeing across our section activities. Whether through our monthly meetings, networking opportunities, or ongoing conversations between members, it is clear that our section continues to grow as a place where professionals can learn, collaborate, and support one another.
At our recent monthly meeting, Dr. Gary Jing challenged us to rethink traditional approaches to Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). His presentation, A Deficiency in Existing RCA and FMEA Practice, explored the importance of considering Return on Investment (ROI) as part of the decision-making process when pursuing corrective actions. The discussion generated thoughtful dialogue around balancing technical rigor with practical business impact and highlighted how quality professionals can better align improvement efforts with organizational value.
Looking ahead, we are excited to welcome John Choate as our upcoming speaker. John will be discussing topics surrounding Quality 4.0 & AI, 2026; Supplier Quality Engineering 4.0. As many organizations continue adapting to rapidly evolving technologies, these discussions are becoming increasingly important for quality professionals seeking to stay ahead of emerging trends and industry expectations.
In addition to serving as our speaker, John also serves as the Phoenix Section Publicity and Outreach Chair, where he continues helping connect industry professionals with ASQ and strengthen engagement across our local quality community. We appreciate his continued contributions and leadership within the section.
I am also pleased to share that the Phoenix Section has earned the Bronze Performance Excellence Program (PEP) Award for 2025. This recognition reflects the collective efforts of our leadership team, volunteers, speakers, and members who continue investing their time and energy into strengthening our section. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this achievement and to the continued success of ASQ Phoenix.
As we continue building momentum throughout the year, we are also planning additional opportunities for our members to connect outside of our traditional monthly meetings. We are currently exploring a community book exchange event planned for mid-September, so please be on the lookout for additional details as dates become finalized. We are also working on a brewery tour event in Q4 at SanTan Brewing Company, along with additional events already entering the planning cycle for Q1 of next year.
These types of events help reinforce one of the greatest strengths of our section: the relationships and professional networks that develop when quality professionals come together to share ideas, experiences, and perspectives.
Thank you again for your continued support of the ASQ Phoenix Section. I look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming meetings and events.
Best regards,
O’Ryan White
