ASQ Phoenix Message from the Chair January 2026
Hello ASQ Members,
As we begin a new year, I want to thank you for being part of the ASQ community. Each year brings new challenges and opportunities for quality professionals, and our section remains focused on providing relevant, practical value that supports you as leaders in your organizations.
I would like to take a moment to recognize and thank the volunteers who are stepping away from their roles after dedicating years of service to ASQ. Your time, leadership, and commitment have had a lasting impact on our members and on the strength of this community. We are deeply grateful for the foundation you have helped build.
At the same time, I am excited to welcome our new volunteers who are stepping into leadership and support roles this year. Your willingness to serve ensures the continued success and vitality of ASQ. Fresh perspectives, new energy, and a shared commitment to quality will help us continue to grow and evolve together.
Our most recent speaker, Rick Hefner, PhD, set the tone with his presentation, AI Essentials for Quality Leaders: Tools, Trends, and Tactics. He shared a thoughtful perspective on how artificial intelligence is shaping the future of quality. If you were unable to attend, this program is available in the Phoenix Section Library.
Building on that momentum, I am pleased to share details for our upcoming January meeting:
January 8 | 6:00 PM (Phoenix) / 8:00 PM (Eastern)
Virtual Meeting (Zoom)
We will welcome Kimberly Watson-Hemphill, founder of Firefly Consulting, for her presentation, Adventures with AI – Turning Data Into Insights. Kimberly founded Firefly Consulting in 2009, a firm focused on innovation and operational excellence. She is the co-author of Fast Innovation and Innovating Lean Six Sigma, holds engineering degrees from the University of Michigan and the University of Texas at Austin, and is a Master Black Belt and Senior Member of ASQ. Her session explores how generative AI can enhance quality practices through data analysis, visualization, and process improvement support.
