How to Pass Any ASQ Certification Exam
The two parts of passing any ASQ exam:
- Know the Body of Knowledge (BOK)
- Practice answering ASQ type questions
Preparation
- Begin 3-4 months prior to the exam.
- Expect to study 60-80 hours spread evenly over the 3-4 months.
- Gather your study materials. Do not overdo it. Beware there is good material and bad material out there. Seek recommendations.
- Do a self-assessment to the Body of Knowledge (BOK) of your exam.
- Early in your study focus on the BOK, what you do know, what you do not know.
- Later, start increasing the practice questions in your study sessions. Try to answer each question within 30 seconds. Use a timer.
- Analyze the practice questions. Why is the correct answer correct and why are the other 3 incorrect. This practice will help you on exam day.
Exam Day
- Bring the appropriate resources to use during the exam. There are certain restrictions on the calculators you can use.
- I recommend a three-pass system.
- First pass, answer the ones you know without using your reference materials.
- Second pass, answer the ones you skipped and start using you reference materials.
- Third pass, the few tough questions you skipped.
- Do answer all the questions. There is no benefit of not answering a question.
- Go celebrate your effort.
