Saturday, 13 April 2024, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Event Organized by Carolyn Miller,
ASQ Section 0511 Arrangements Chair and Ranger Outings Lead

The Tour: ASQ Section 0511 is pleased to have arranged for an approximate one to one and a half hour ranger-led private backstage tour of Wolf Trap's the Filene Center, followed by an on-site picnic lunch brought in by your ranger lead. Space limitations provide for a maximum of thirty (30) participants, so reserve your spot while you can!

Explore the history of the Filene Center, be introduced to unique industry language, terminology, and colloquialisms, and be privy to behind-the-scenes stage performance logistics. Stand on a world-class stage, get a sneak peek at where the stars get ready, and learn about theater operations - just how does a theater run anyway?

The Venue: Encompassing 130.28 gross acres with 12.39 acres in scenic easement, Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts was established in 1966 and remains the only national park dedicated to presenting the performing arts. The Filene Center is located inside Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, and is operated under a cooperative agreement with their non-profit partner, Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts.

Getting There: Located between the Dulles Toll Road (RT 267) and Leesburg Pike (RT 7), the park can be accessed by traveling from Route 7, Route 267, Beulah Road, or Old Courthouse Road. Parking is available behind the venue in Lot 4. Please note that while parking is free, space may be limited. The tour will meet at Stage Door, located on the right side of the Filene Center building. As you approach the Filene Center main gate and box office area, take the right turn and follow the road down the hill.
