Chair’s Message

7/1/2023

Greetings ASQ Phoenix Section Members!

Summer has officially begun, and your ASQ Phoenix Section is making the most of these longer days! This past month has been a flurry of activity and providing added member benefit has been the reason behind it!

Earlier this month, members of the section leadership team visited the ASU Polytechnic Campus in Mesa to tour their School of Manufacturing, and to discuss a partnership that could include generating additional scholarship programs for the students at the college as well as creating more opportunity for student memberships. Engaging university students is imperative as it ensures our section will experience continued and sustainable growth. It also encourages idea sharing across generations; the projects of the graduate students will likely take manufacturing practices to the next level in the near future!

The Phoenix Section also organized a membership networking event at San Tan Gardens Brewery and Distillery. This event was well attended and included an informative tour of their impressive facility. The tour was followed by a tasty meal at the San Tan Pub. Networking events are a great way to connect with others in the section and have fun while doing it! Please be on the lookout in the months ahead for another opportunity to join us for an informal gathering at someplace new!

No tour is complete without photos! Check out several snapshots below with our amazing tour guide and Master Brewer, Craig Nichols! Thank you for a fantastic event!

Finally, the section leadership team took conference planning into high gear for PHXCON, the section quality conference being held on November 3rd of this year! A location has been set as well as a theme and focus areas. Check out the Phoenix Section homepage on myASQ for real-time updates or Google 'PHXCON' for a link that will take you straight to our page! A Call for Presenters will be posted soon; we hope that you will consider joining us on stage for this landmark event!

There is so much more to look forward to in the months ahead – we hope you will stay tuned! In the meantime, I wish you a fabulous July 4th with friends and family!

Until we meet again, stay safe, stay healthy, and stay connected!

Cheers!

Hilary Werner
