Webinar: What Primary Approach Do You Use for Improvement of Student Engagement?
Abstract: Have you ever wondered what tried and true approach you should use for improvement of student engagement in your institution? Learn from our panelists who have successful experience improving the engagement of their students. Panelists will briefly explain the basic approach, the improvements that were implemented successfully, and why the approach was chosen for the application over other approaches. After each panelist provides their introductory presentation, attendees may ask questions for further details, clarifications, and recommendations.

Ellen Belitzky teaches business and analytics courses as a university instructor in Connecticut. With a Ph.D. in Technology Management and an extensive career in corporate information technology for the consumer-packaged goods industry, Dr. Belitzky is certified in Project Management and Quality Management. Having diverse functional experience enables Dr. Belitzky to relate to her students across academic disciplines. She thrives on the opportunity for education to influence technology adoption, innovation, and business results.
Heather McCain is currently the interim Director for the Information Technology program and a Professor of the Practice for Project Management at the University of Kansas. She has more than 25 years of experience in quality engineering and management. She works with companies to implement continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma and provides training on quality, project management, and process improvement. Dr. McCain is a Senior member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and is active in her local ASQ section as well as several technical communities. She is a Certified Quality Engineer and Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence. Dr. McCain received her Ph.D. in Technology Management from Indiana State University.
Edward Pines is a Professor of Industrial Engineering at New Mexico State University (NMSU) and is Professor-In-Residence at the NMSU Arrowhead Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. His teaching and research are focused on people in systems and how they create and fund new enterprises and systems. At the upper-division undergraduate and graduate levels, Dr. Pines teaches courses such as statistical quality control, reliability, and systems engineering. He is an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer.
