TOPIC: The New FMEA: Greater Focus on Foresight rather than Hindsight

SPEAKER: Charles "Chuck" Cox, Principal at Firefly Consulting

Chuck Cox

BIO:

Charles Cox brings over four decades of international experience across industries ranging from semiconductors to financial services to aerospace & defense, automotive, medical devices, oil & gas exploration and utilities. Chuck helps technical personnel cut through the noise to determine what’s the best set of concepts and tools in the Operational Excellence “toolbox” to:

a) Gain the maximum leverage for their work efforts,

b) Align quality and improvement concepts with strategic and market-driven goals, and

c) Achieve sustainable results…often building the foundation for further cycles of ongoing (‘continuous’) improvement.

ABSTRACT:

"The New FMEA: Greater Focus on Foresight rather than Hindsight," he will discuss how the basics of the original 3-step FMEA process have been updated to the more insightful 7-step framework.  It is designed to be more effective by:

  1. Surfacing potential failure modes earlier using a systems look at functions analysis, and
  2. Using the Action Priority logic-based lookup tables to better define the most critical areas for engineering efforts to focus on.

Also, the third FMEA: Supplemental FMEA for Monitoring and System Response will be discussed.

COST: Free. Open to all.
