ASQ Ann Arbor 05OCT26: Fred Schenkelberg, FMS: Reliability Engineering and Decisions

When:  Mon, Oct 5, 2026 from 05:30 PM to 07:00 PM (ET)
Associated with  Ann Arbor Section

Ann Arbor Section Meeting 05OCT26

Topic:  Reliability Engineering and Decisions

Speaker:  Fred Schenkelberg, Reliability Engineering and Management Consultant, FMS Reliability

Abstract:

Reliability engineering is more than FMEA, HALT, ALT, and data analysis, with a few adventures in failure analysis. It is more than a set of methods; it is the information we create that is important. Running a test that no one needs is a waste of time. Conducting an ALT that is instrumental information for a key decision is valuable.
Let’s take a look at what we do as reliability professionals, and how to make sure everything we do has value. Plus, how to ensure that the methods we select connect directly to key decisions within our project or program.
We are influencers of decision-making. From component or vendor selection to design comparisons to verification. What informs decisions? Focusing on decisions before selecting methods for a plan will serve you and your team well.
