Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) presents transformative potential for enhancing quality and productivity in academia by streamlining curriculum design and improving instructional efficiency. This session demonstrates how GAI can be strategically applied to develop structured and engaging syllabi, using an accounting course as a model. The presenters will showcase methods for harnessing GAI to generate initial syllabus drafts and refine lesson plans, resulting in optimized, high-quality educational materials.

Dr. Lisa Walters is a professor at the SUNY Fredonia School of Business, specializing in quality management and operations. With a focus on Six Sigma and AI applications in education, she brings extensive experience in curriculum development and innovative teaching methodologies. She researches and publishes within these areas. She is the faculty advisor to the Fredonia ASQ Section.

Dr. Mark Nickerson is an experienced professor at SUNY Fredonia with a robust background in higher education and accounting. His expertise includes tax preparation, sales tax, partnership taxation, GAAP, and income tax. His research and publications focus on pedagogy, lean accounting, and hiring practices of CPA firms.

Dr. So-Jin Yu is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at SUNY Fredonia, specializing in corporate governance, managerial incentives, sustainability, and financial reporting. Dr. Yu has published extensively on topics like accounting fraud, corporate social responsibility, and investment inefficiency.
