When Cyndi Lauper shouted, “Girls Just Want to Have Fun!” I am not sure she meant having fun while conducting audits, but that’s the song I hear in my head each time I start an Opening Meeting. I realized recently I have been auditing across four decades, auditing was different back then, cue Pat Benatar’s, “We Belong”, and I’ve learned a few secrets along the way.
Being a Powerhouse Auditor takes a specialized set of skills, personal attributes, and auditor characteristics. The true value of an audit can be appreciated by findings that save time and money through the effective review of the suitability of the management system, presented confidently to the leadership team.
Although it may sound easy to some, preparing for and conducting audits may not come naturally to everyone. Unlocking a few secrets to successful auditing may make all the difference to being an Audit Rock Star!

I love what I do! Twenty-five years ago, I started Gorveatte Consulting Inc. a wholly woman owned and operated business offering ISO 9001 Quality Management System coaching, auditing, and training building a client base including everything from Fortune 500 companies to solo-preneurs. Although I work across North America, I currently reside in Nova Scotia where I live with my husband, two smart university graduates, and two spoiled cats. I am an active Member of ASQ, holding positions as incoming Chair Elect of the Quality Management Division and I am Past-Chair of the Technical Program Committee for ASQ World Conference on Quality and Improvement
