BIO:
Kathy Lyall is the Supplier Quality Engineering Business Process Owner at Philips. She is an ASQ Fellow and was named "Quality Professional of the Year" by Quality Magazine in 2020. She holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Dayton, as wells as master’s degrees in engineering management from Western Michigan University, and regulatory affairs from Saint Cloud State University. She maintains five ASQ Certifications: Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB), and Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP).
Kathy is a past-chair of ASQ section #1003 Battle Creek/Kalamazoo, and past-chair of the Hromi Medal Committee. She’s currently a member of ASQ Section #1001 Grand Rapids, the ASQ Inspection Division, and the ASQ Fellows Focus Group. She will join the ASQ Board of Directors in January 2025 as Member At Large.
PRESENTATION SUMMARY:
Quality 4.0 is the leveraging of technology with people to improve the quality of an organization, its products/services, and the outcomes it creates. This presentation is a case study of how a large medical device company attempted to integrate Quality 4.0 into its supplier quality engineering function. The journey took many twists and turns. Ultimately, the team delivered significant improvement to product quality and revolutionized how the supplier quality function operates within the organization.
