Professional Networking & “Getting to Know Your Organization” event aimed at helping professionals better understand the presence, reach, & practical value of local professional organizations. The intent is to foster stronger collaboration across disciplines & organizations that collectively support Oklahoma’s workforce & business community.
For this event, ASQ is inviting participation from Continuous Improvement Oklahoma (CIOK), the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), Project Management Institute (PMI) OKC & the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) for a single evening of networking & shared learning. Each organization will have a brief opportunity to highlight who they are, what they do, & how members & guests can get involved—followed by open networking & conversation.
ASQ member feedback shows strong interest in cross‑organizational collaboration & learning how different industries apply quality, internal audit, continuous improvement, & project management principles in practice. This type of shared forum creates meaningful connections while helping attendees discover new perspectives & opportunities.
Our first session is scheduled for Wednesday, April 22nd, beginning at 5:45 PM hosted by the City of Edmond, & we genuinely value everyone's participation. This will be an excellent opportunity to:
- Increase organization visibility within the broader N. OKC & Edmond professional community.
- Connect with peers across quality, audit, CI, & project management disciplines for mutual benefit.
- Explore future collaboration & shared learning opportunities.
Looking beyond a single event, the larger purpose is to help propel Oklahoma forward as a great state. To do that, our local professional organizations need stronger collaboration & fewer lines of perceived competition. ASQ, CIOK, PMI, & IIA each serve our workforce & businesses in distinct but complementary ways, & together we can create greater impact.
The longer‑term vision is to hold several local events throughout the greater OKC metro—initially in N. OKC / Edmond, then South OKC / Moore, with potential expansion farther east & west in the greater metro. These events will:
- Enable current members to meet, connect, & establish collaborative relationships that support one another personally & professionally.
- Provide professionals who are not yet members, as well as those new to or soon entering the workforce, a chance to build valuable connections & discover which organizations best align with their interests.
- Allow organization leaders to connect directly with emerging talent for both their organizations & their employers.
Additional topic of discussion will be the future potential to expand this into something big enough that people will cross State lines to attend: ASQ OKC in conjunction with CIOK, PMI, IIA, ASSP & OK Dept Commerce, a larger day-long event is possible, especially if its the day before or after another significant & related OKC conference.
There is no charge for this session, event is free to attend. Sales & marketing prohibited, for educational & professional networking purposes only. A complimentary dinner will be provided for registered attendees courtesy of Section 1408.
