About this Talk:

Human-Centered Design (HCD) evolved from the design world and has been used in multiple disciplines (computer science, engineering, health care) at the micro, mezzo or macro levels. HCD is often thought to be a single method, but it entails a wide array of design methods and techniques to be used selectively depending upon the design case and the context. While there are many definitions of HCD in literature, the commonalities are that it is a repeatable, creative approach to problem solving that brings together what is desirable from a human point of view with what is feasible and economically viable (IDEO 2015). IDEO’s design framework labels the phases as the inspiration phase followed by ideation and then implementation.  In this talk we will discuss HCD and how using HCD to get to new solutions means that we use a set of methods to know different people, different scenarios and places and arrive at solutions.  An example of how HCD was used to improve the process of food distribution in a pantry will be used to illustrate this approach.

This webinar is for you if you are:
