The Hawaii ASQ section is having a general membership meeting via ZOOM on Tuesday October 29, 2024 at 5 pm Hawaii time.
Presentation Description
The Baldrige Excellence Framework (https://www.nist.gov/baldrige ) is a well-established method to help organizations achieve their objectives, improve results, and become more competitive. It does this through a Criteria for Performance Excellence that helps organizations evaluate their current situation and identify areas for possible improvement. There is a national award program as well as State level programs that help organizations assess the maturity of an organization’s practices through an evaluation process. The national program can be accessed through the website above and the State programs can be accessed through the Baldrige Alliance (https://baldrigealliance.org/ ) website. Interest from Hawaii companies in the use of the Baldrige Excellence Framework can be directed to the ASQ Hawaii section.
The criteria is non-prescriptive and can be used by organizations of any size or industry.
This presentation describes an initial way to start using the framework, called the organizational profile. Answering the questions in the profile can provide a leadership team with a starting point in their current journey to improvement. Using the organizational profile is also a useful way to document the current state of an organization of any size.
There are other tools provided by the Baldrige program ( https://www.nist.gov/baldrige/self-assessing/improvement-tools/foundations-successful-business )
and ( https://www.nist.gov/baldrige/self-assessing/improvement-tools ) that can provide useful starting points.
