Joint ASCM / ASQ Section Meeting: Managing Organizational Silos: A Puzzle You Can Solve

When:  Apr 16, 2025 from 05:45 PM to 07:30 PM (ET)
Associated with  Southern Connecticut Section

This presentation draws an analogy between building a puzzle, and managing organizational silos. It explores three distinct methods of puzzle building:

  • Laying out the edges first,
  • Laying out all the pieces,
  • and Building sections

—and relates them to strategies for breaking down and integrating silos within organizations.

The presentation emphasizes that the chosen method depends on factors like resources, teamwork, and situational needs. It also highlights the importance of a holistic approach, where no single department or silo is more important than the others. Ultimately, the goal is to create a cohesive, functional organization, much like completing a puzzle, where all pieces fit together harmoniously.

Through teamwork, collaboration, and mindful management of resources, silos can be managed effectively, fostering cross-functionality, knowledge sharing, and overall organizational success.

This presentation brings the perceived complexity of managing organizational silos, into a simple thought, a puzzle you can solve!
