This is an online, on-demand class. It includes five segments that can be completed at your own pace in from 5-20 hours. Those who register will be enrolled in an automated Learning Management System and will receive an automated enrollment notice and a link to access all class materials. After listening to the class introduction, a pre-class exam will be offered, to assess initial skills in quality. The learner can then complete all the training modules at their own pace. When the class is complete, a final skills assessment will be provided, and a passing score of 75% will be required to become a certificated ANSI G1 Designated Examiner of Quality in Government. The class registration fee is $375 which includes all materials, available as downloads as a part of class content.
This course is designed to train and prepare individuals as Designed Examiners who will be examining/evaluating various government operations and services and providing these government organizations with a scorecard of the quality of their operations/services. The evaluations and ratings are based on ASQ/ANSI G1:2021, Guidelines for Quality of Government Operations and Services. There are two professional pre-requisites to formal designation as follows:
- Formal training and certification in quality science, or; two years’ career experience in the application of quality science
- Formal training or certification in Audit or Program Evaluation, such as the ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) designation, OR a minimum of two-years’ experience in the professional audit and/or operational review.
The class includes several major sections of material. Its first focus is to center on structuring workflows (as both systems and processes) to provide best practice operational models and to create a learning organization. It presents both system and process maturity models and shows how maturity scoring evaluates the inclusion of essential quality practices. It offers skills in the application of maturity models for quality systems, and compares ANSI G1 and several quality assessment methodologies. It shows how the ASQ Standard can be applied as an objective and structured framework for an entire organization, and how it can create a measurable and visible scorecard for its success. The class also presents information on the role of Designated Examiners in certifying quality maturity, and of the Center for Quality Standards in serving as a 3rd party registrar.
The class is provided by the American Society for Quality Government Division.
