About the Presentation
Quality professionals often depend on the outputs of destructive measurement systems to make critical quality decisions. This presentation will clarify the challenges of assessing the precision of these measurement systems and distinguish between effective and ineffective methods of addressing these challenges.
When a measurement is destructive, it is impossible to estimate repeatability because the measurement cannot be repeated on the same sample. A key challenge in these situations is the often repeated (but mistaken) suggestion that a nested study design is the solution to the challenge of “Destructive Gage R&R.” This session will clarify the relatively rare case where a nested study might apply and detail recommended approaches that apply much more broadly.
