Speaker 1: Andrea Griffiths

Andrea is an auditor and consulting professional specializing in risk-based assessment, supplier verification, and management system effectiveness across the food supply chain. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Technology Management and a Master of Jurisprudence from Texas A&M University School of Law, with an emphasis in risk management.

Andrea has extensive experience performing and managing audits, calibrating and training auditors, and delivering technical food safety training and consulting services.  She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Criminal Justice, with research focused on intentional and systemic infiltration risks to the food and water supply, bridging food safety, food defense, and supply chain security. Andrea serves as Vice Chair of the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP) Food Safety Culture Professional Development Group (PDG)

When Andrea is not working, she can be found out in nature looking for rocks and gems, or at home with her Indian Ringnecks. Andrea enjoys reading and learning.

Speaker 2: Jack Hamilton

Jack Hamilton brings his experience in the current FVSP environment of helping organizations identify, evaluate, and manage operational, regulatory, and supply chain risk within certified and regulated environments and food industry organizations operating under GFSI-benchmarked standards

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences and Public Health from Wright State University.

Description:

Establishing a Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) under 21 CFR requires a systematic approach to verifying that your foreign suppliers meet U.S. safety standards. The presentation will share the framework and trends in supplier management considering supplier global harmonization. What is defined as an FSVP importer in the U.S. and their compliance challenges.

To help understand what is used to manage an FVSP, the core procedures for a system including Hazard Analysis, Supplier Risk Evaluation, Verification Activities, Corrective Actions and Documentation will be explained and demonstrated.  Who and what is a Qualified Individual (QI), as a designated responsible person for an FVSP is shared.
