During ISO 9001 certification audit we had discussion with audited organization. I want to know your opinions:

If serial number or ID code of measuring equipment hasn't been indicated in test or quality control reports, is it non-conformity based on ISO 9001 requirements?

If yes which clause and category of non conformity major, minor or only observation?

Note: there are 4 piece of same calibrated measuring equipment and 4 competent inspector which may use different equipment during inspection.

If it is an active measuring device it would be under the requirements of 7.1.5.2 under ISO9001: 2015.  It would require a method of traceability to the measuring equipment calibration. Status.  Since the four calibrated measuring equipment are the same you are required to have the ability for this traceability for each piece of equipment.  The ID code or serial number is the normal method in metrology to be used for traceability.

You also asked about the level of nonconformity.  An assignment of minor or major would normally for a measuring device be associated with the risk of shipping non-conforming product.  It a status of a product is unknown because of a questionable status of a measuring device it must be treated as nonconforming since we have no evidence that is traceable for it to be conforming.
