For those of us in the United States, today is the day we honor Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy. Last year I was in Memphis and was able to visit the Civil Rights Museum located there. Part of the area around the museum is the motel where he was staying at when he was assassinated. This is a photo of the memorial there, preserved as it was 50 years ago.
I saw this quote of his today: "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." It reminded me of the importance of listening to our members and using our voices to help enhance and improve the Society. Like any process or product, there is room within ASQ for continuous improvement. Those of us that serve as member leaders are always on the outlook for opportunities to make the Society better. While each of us may have a different opinion what needs to be fixed or made better, by working together, there is a path forward.
Hopefully this year you will see some positive changes in our technology and member offerings. If one looks hard enough, there is likely a webinar being offered by some member unit each day of the month. Many technical communities have recorded their webinars and are available to “binge watch” on the weekends. 😀 If there is something that you believe will enhance member value, do not be silent but rather share with your peers and leadership. Remember - WE are ASQ. We are on this quality journey together.
