Coaching Books

Hi all,

First post on myASQ!

Action: I would like for you to share your favorite and most useful book on coaching. Please explain why:)

Background: We are starting a new problem solving certification program at my healthcare organization and would like to arm the Coachers/Mentors of the problem solvers with helpful information. The students of the program will be learning PDSA and applying it to a project and learning basic problem solving tools. I would like to share the recommended coaching book as a resource to help them elevate their current coaching ability.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hi - a straightforward book I have gotten a lot out of is The Coaching Habit by Michael Bungay Stainier. Good support for coaching vs. teaching.

I appreciate the reply. Thank you. I will look into that one. Were there tips you could utilize right away?

Energy Leadership by Bruce Schneider. Bruce is the founder of iPEC and his coaching model has worked well for me. A related topic book that is excellent is Fierce Conversations by Susan Scott. I have used recommended phrases from that book that worked like a charm.
