Section Leadership Meetings

Are there any guidelines from ASQ for the sections leadership meetings. Specially that ASQ is a world organization and conditions of CV19 should be totally different in each state or nation. I do know that ASQ never interfered with sections in prior to CV19 beside that sections generally helped ASQ for leadership meetings?

Hi Ray Lotfi‍, ASQ's Board of Directors voted in February to extend the restriction on face-to-face activities until June 30, 2021. The Board will continue to evaluate this topic and review the status of global events to determine when it is safe to begin meeting in person again. Member leaders will continue to be made aware of changes in the status of in person events.

So sorry and hope that is not correct. Since when ASQ Milwaukee makes decisions for 96 sections around the globe about their leadership meeting? If that is correct it would be truly DISAPONITING. Would you please refer documents related to this subject. Thank you

Hi Ray Lotfi‍, to clarify this decision was not made by staff at headquarters, rather it was made by the ASQ Board of Directors. The meeting minutes from the February Board Meeting haven’t been reviewed and approved yet, so you cannot view them yet. However, you can view the minutes from previous meetings where this has been voted on by the Board dating back to August of 2020. Prior to August, this was a decision that had been made by the Geographic Communities Council and Technical Communities Council.

Unfortunately they have been doing that sort of thing for several years. The members (who are REALLY ASQ) no longer have a voice in the organization. They are just a cash cow for HQ.

I did look at the Aug and other minute of the board meetings nothing mentioned related to the sections leadership meeting restriction by the ASQ headquarters. As said before there are 96 sections around the globe does it make a sense that Milwaukee direct how the sections can to have their meeting? Sorry another disappointing item I notices, there is no simple agenda on the beard meetings to cover topics of discussions! I did send an email to componentrelations@ASQ.org asking the questions. Any help with proper direction would be appreciated.

If you go to Events - myASQ you can find the 8th Annual International Lean Six Sigma Conference should be taking place in County Cork, Ireland on June 22nd, 2021 other live events in the US appear to be scheduled out for October 2021.
I agree with you on Leadership Meetings if conditions are safe but I don't trust all states would comply with rules, in that case the ASQ members should opt out.
Steven,

Are you advising that we should follow the guidance of the ASQ Board of Director?
What happens when there is a conflict between the Board and our Local Centre for Disease Control?
Robin Woolmer‍ this needs to be treated as an "AND" situation - follow the directions from the ASQ Board of Directors AND any local health requirements. Here's hoping that vaccination roll outs continue at a fast pace and we can resume meeting each other face-to-face in the near future.
@ray lofti the restriction is for face-to-face meetings, which would include leadership meetings. The Board of Directors has a fiduciary responsibility to protect the interests of ASQ as a whole, not just within the borders of the US. This includes decision making regarding whether or not we should be holding meetings face-to-face during a pandemic.

Our section has been taking advantage of the flexibility of being able to meet across a large geographic area at lunchtime over Teams, which has been very helpful for our leadership meetings.

Thank you for your comment but still I don't think it is ASQ Milwaukee business to dictate if sections want to have a present meeting. This would be a TOTAL INSULTING to sections and their maturity. Let us not forget that ASQ Milwaukee would not exist without section around the globe. The best would be a very clear complement from ASQ to ask sections make mature decisions for the support of their members and value of ASQ.

Dear Amiee Siegler we have been connected for years since you started Women for Quality. Sorry that I totally disagree with you that it is not the business of Board dictating how the sections want to hold meetings. As you do know there are sections around the glob that have team if not higher but equal to ASQ board with respect to care about their members. Are you telling me if a member got infected during a meeting following ASQ guidelines, ASQ would feel any responsibility? ASQ directions/guidelines for attending meeting is an ABSOLUTE INSULT to sections around the states and internationals. So sad I have not seen a clear comment from ASQ about this issue and according to bylaws yet.

Another point is that I called ASQ-Milwaukee and asked the question NO ONE answered? If ASQ is planning to promote this web against Facebook or LinkedIn they should participate otherwise we see relatively VERY LOW activity.
Again IS IT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF ASQ-MILAUKEE TO DICTATE SECTION LEADERSHIP MEETINGS? In my humble opinion ASQ-Milwaukee should clearly call (NO) and not INSLUT sections. Thank you
