Holiday themed December Program Topic
The Phoenix Section is looking for ideas (& speaker) for our December Program virtual meeting. We usually hold an interactive member-focused VOC gathering session (e.g. Roundtable Café) during our December Program, but we have not had a lot of success with virtual networking sessions.

Our Program Chair is in search of a December guest speaker. I had the thought that a holiday-themed, fun topic would be ideal. Something along the lines of a talk on the application of lean six sigma (or “statistical thinking”) at the North Pole.

Has anyone out there given such a presentation? Would an interested ASQ member be willing and able to develop & present such a presentation?

Our scheduled November guest speaker has offered to tailor her presentation “Six Sigma for Dummies” to a fictitious North Pole application (she had worked in the toy industry).

However, I wish to keep this Discussion thread open for additional suggestions as a networking / sharing opportunity (aka “steal shamelessly”).

This is Roy Weidig, webinar coordinator for the Fort Worth (Texas) Section. I would love to have your speaker present this Six Sigma story to our group in December. Would y'all be willing to put me in contact with her? Heck, maybe we could piggy-back in November? We're open to borrowing great ideas, too.
Thanks,
Roy Weidig
Roy,

Our November speaker has graciously volunteered to move her presentation to our December 10 Program and customize it for the holidays. Please send me an email and I will give you the speaker's name and contact info.

Robert Mitchell‍ - I thought I responded to this...but guess I didn't.  Lol.   November is World Quality Month - we're starting to brainstorm about 'fun' things to incorporate.  On thing we will play off is the 'My Quality Hero' submissions.  Might be fun to tie into some of those activities for your November meeting.  I'll keep you posted.

Thank you Trish. I am the volunteer working to build a series of webinars presented via our Section in Fort Worth each month from September to, maybe, June 2021.
We try to prepare speakers at least 2 months in advance. We (I) are looking for a November Speaker. The idea is not to piggyback an existing PD meeting but to arrange a separate webinar during the month on a day which is NOT our PD meeting day. Our rationale for not piggy backing some one else's PD meeting is that a different Section's meeting would contain material not relevant to Ft. Worth and our "presence", even if not physical, might be disruptive. And, it gives the impression we were too lazy to develop our own stuff!! <grin>

I should point out that one of our goals is provide educational material to members of Sections beyond Fort Worth. We had a series of free webinars presented in place of our income producing "Quality Roundup" because gatherings were canceled thanks to COVID. We recorded ASQ members from as far away as Quebec and the West Coast, Oklahoma & Colorado, not to mention from other ASQ Sections around Texas.

My personal email is RWeidig@aol.com if you want to converse privately.

Roy Weidig‍ - Why reinvent the wheel if you don't have to!  :D  Going virtual is very challenging for sections - but you guys are doing great collaborating & adapting to a new world. Webex can get a bit bogged down if it has too many people, so I don't see why we shouldn't share & reuse content to your group.  Also, sometimes time zones make it difficult for members to join.

Willy Vandenbrande‍ has offered to present for sections.  You might want to contact him.

I'll keep you both posted on WQM activities :D
Thanks for all you do

During our Sept 10 Program meeting, I used the "Poll Everywhere" PowerPoint plug-in to ask the online audience a series of questions to gather their interest on the possibility of Section-sponsored "Watch Parties" for the upcoming hybrid virtual Quality 4.0 Summit, the 2021 Lean Six Sigma Conference, the 2021 WCQI, and November Quality Month activities. Very strong interest in all mentioned potential activities.
