I just read your article James Spichiger and I agree wholeheartedly. I joined ASQ in 2011 with no preexisting quality knowledge. I started with the website which was a wealth of basic information as I developed my company's QMS and sought ISO 9001:2008 certification. I got my first certification in 2014 and it opened up a world of opportunities for me. I began judging the preliminary round of the ITEA in 2014 and have done so every year since. I have met so many amazing people through that experience.I attended WCQI in 2016 after serving as a conference abstract reviewer the previous autumn. I then returned to WCQI as an ITEA finals judge the next two years. MyASQ has helped me learn so much more and "meet" so many more people! I feel like the language of Quality is universal and the community that speaks it is so welcoming.
I hope to achieve additional certifications, particularly CMQ/OE and continue serving in the ITEA program. I hope to keep meeting Quality practitioners from all over the globe who can teach me, and someday I can hopefully teach others. I am proud to be a part of this global community.
