Clarifications on Study Material

Dear All,
Which one is the right platform for clarifying information in study materials? For example The Certified, Quality Engineer in Chapter 2 (The Quality Sytems) on Page 83 states that The ISO 9000 standards are based on SEVEN quality management principles where as The ASQ CQA Study Guide Part II (The Quality Systems) question number 9 states The ISO 9000 series of standards emphasizes EIGHT quality management principles. Which one is Correct? SEVEN OR EIGHT Management principles?

Hi,

I have a few thoughts on this issue. The study guide was published in 2015, likely before the new ISO 9000 was published in the fall of that year.  In ISO 9000: 2008, I believe that there were 8 principles.  However, in the 2015 version, 7 are listed.  The Certified Quality Engineer Handbook, 4th edition was published in 2017 and would represent the change from 8 principles down to 7.

You might want to check back in with the references provided for this exam for the definitive sources of information: https://asq.org/cert/quality-engineer/references
