Hello! My name is Jessica and I am a Senior Quality Analyst for Baylor Genetics in Houston, TX. While I have several years experience in laboratory QA/QC, I am new to quality management. I've held my current position for six months now and am currently prepping to take ASQ's CQPA certification.

Currently at my company, our QM team has two main projects for this first quarter. In the first project, am leading an evaluation our QIs to determine what metrics best give us the insight into the quality of our services and and allows us to identify areas for improvement. If anyone has any suggestions for a clinical genetics laboratory, I am all ears!

The second project is partnering with our Laboratory Operations team to evaluate lab quality in an in-depth process review.

I am excited to start my career in quality management and see where this road takes me.

Hi Trish,

Thank you for the welcome! I have actually already purchased the CQPA Handbook and Question Bank from ASQ as part of my preparation and both have been very handy so far. We've had some major structure changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic and finding time to study has been tough. I am glad to know that the community here is welcoming and am sure it is a great place of knowledge.

I completely understand!   We're all working from home, meeting through microsoft teams, and trying to keep up with the flood of new activities and repercussions caused by Covid-19.   We're moving WCQI to a virtual event which will be free for all members.  So...lots to do!  :)

Glad you already have your prep materials.   Check out the Cert discussion board too - lots of helpful hits & such.
