Supplier Management during and after the time of COVID-19

Supplier provided materials and services are inputs to processes
for all industries which makes Supplier Quality a necessary
component of a robust and effective QMS. Supplier Management
is important for developing general risk management plans,
managing the supply chain, and completing effective root cause
analysis for CAPAs. As time progresses and industry becomes more
automated and digitized, quality tools are changing to keep up.
COVID-19 has served as a catalyst to this process by demanding
companies to become more digitized in order to stay afloat.
Effective QMSs and quality tools have contributed to the
development and distribution of vaccines for COVID-19 and as a
result, supplier management has changed forever.
Risk Mitigation plans must be revised, processes must be
streamlined, and strong customer-supplier relationships must be
built to get through these trying times and move forward stronger
than ever. This presentation is intended to provide advice on
planning and executing virtual audits, ensuring effective
collaboration with suppliers and internal teams to drive supplier
qualification activities, and verify that controls implemented to
ensure supplier management activities are effective.

Heather Fisher-Clarke
Education: B.S in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise: Consumer Foods, Minor in Food Science and Technology ASQ – Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Supplier Quality Professional, and Certified Quality Process Analyst. Lead ISO 13485 and ISO 17025

Heather has 10+ years of experience in multiple industries. For 2 years she gained experience in foodservice management, organic farming techniques, and materials management. For another 2 years, she worked in quality for an ISO 17025 accredited lab manufacturing custom standards. As a second, part-time job, Heather was a quality/HACCP consultant for a start-up food ingredient manufacturer for 5 years and build an SQF certified QMS from the ground up. Heather also developed food testing protocols and managed materials for a Virginia Tech lab completing USDA-funded nutrient analysis projects. Heather worked in quality for a conglomerate company manufacturing FDA approved pet pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. She leads projects to comply with ISO 9001 and FDA/FSMA for customer complaint management, batch reconciliation, material allocation planning, and management, and implemented and lead a CAPA system. Lastly, for the past 3.5 years, Heather has been a Supplier Quality Engineer for a medical device manufacturer and completed over 45 supplier audits and 4 internal audits as a certified auditor.

Our section is COMMITTED to providing Programs and Training based upon the "Voice of the Customer" based on our annual program and interests survey. We've been an award-winning section for most years as a result! 

Meetings are usually free of cost to all (except for meetings at The Trails), training is discounted for members. Feel free to contact us or visit one of our functions.
