Traditionally, design and manufacturing companies use Worst case tolerancing which is simple, but can have a large negative impact on Producibility and Cost associated with expensive machines, expensive inspection equipment and poor first pass yield leading to scrap or rework.
Statistical tolerancing allows intelligent relaxation of tolerances (based on % contribution) to improve cost, yield and even delivery.
Though statistical tolerancing is not always needed, it's a very valuable tool to have in the toolbox to lower "Cost Of Poor Quality" (COPQ)
This presentation will share several advantages of Statistical tolerancing compared to traditional methods with practical examples.

Bruce Siskowski is currently acting as a Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) consultant within Moog's global Aircraft Engineering Process Group, promoting DFMEA, Key Characteristics, Statistical Tolerancing, Design of Experiments, Regression and other Master Blackbelt tools.
His previous Moog Aircraft role was managing the Escape Prevention Process (EPP) Supply Chain Engineering team that worked with global suppliers of IP products needed for Moog's commercial and military systems.
Bruce also was the Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead for the Antares Taurus II Launch Vehicle program within the Moog Space and Defense group.
Prior to Moog, as Director of Engineering of Reichert Inc., Bruce led use of DFSS tools to successfully improve quality across all medical instrument product lines to meet stringent FDA 21 CFR requirements and substantially reduce COPQ.
As founder of BDAC Systems which supported WNY-TDC (now Insyte), 1st Pass Yield was improved for several local manufacturing companies including INEX and Flexovit.
Previous experience includes positions in Test, Systems and Project Engineering with Taylor Devices and Carleton Technologies (was Cobham, now Eaton).
