Moving Beyond DMAIC & Six Sigma Predictive Modeling & Text Analytics!

With recent advances in computing, Predictive Modeling is no longer reserved for just data scientists and machine learning gurus. In the world of quality, Predictive Modeling is now being deployed by engineers to screen for process inputs of highest impact to yield/quality and 100s of manufacturing variables for likely causes of defects, without needing to wait for non-conformities and failures to show up in control charts and SPC analyses. Then, with Text Analytics, we'll take it a step further and explore how companies are gleaning new insights from raw, unstructured text data such as customer surveys, maintenance logs, and competitor product reviews.

Our presenters this month are Kemal Oflus and Brian Washington.
Kemal Oflus is a Systems Engineer for JMP, a business unit of SAS that specializes in hands-on statistical software. An applied physicist by training, Oflus previously worked as a rocket scientist using statistical methods to support risk assessment on the design and simulation of several projects for NASA and US Air Force. Kemal is a member of the American Society of Quality and the American Statistical Association, and regularly delivers keynotes on data mining and predictive modeling.

Brian Washington is an Account Manager for JMP. As a Six Sigma Black Belt, Brian works closely with his clients to recognize the value and application of Six Sigma principles beyond manufacturing and implement companywide process improvement initiatives. Brian previously worked for Honeywell, consulting with clients in manufacturing and supply chain optimization.
